Hi there! My name is Rachel Nabors, and I started this blog to record my adventures in my new smart car, Roxi. (Yes, I named my car. What? You name your pets, don’t you?)
You see, Roxi is the first car I have ever bought. Before I had my smart forTwo coupe, I was driving a 1995 Ford Escort station wagon that my mother handed down to me. I learned to drive on that car, a manual-shift no less! But when I moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina, I ended up with a long commute to work and needed something reliable to drive (read: the Ford kept breaking down and cost too much to repair every month). I needed something safe, efficient and, most importantly, affordable. I tried out many cars before settling on the smart. But in that process, I wished that I could have read someone’s first-hand account of what it’s like to drive and live with a smart car. Is the maintenance easy? Can it handle curves on a mountain road when I go to visit my mother? What’s it like in a storm or on a highway? And thus I started this blog with hopes that it will help answer those same questions posited by other prospective smart car owners.
